SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) is once again being honored for standing up for taxpayers and fighting for less government intrusion into people’s lives. The American Conservative Union is named the Senator as a recipient of its 2016 Conservative Ratings Award.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized for my work defending families and taxpayers from the constant government over-reach that is all too common in Illinois,” said Senator Syverson. “We have to remember that government is here to serve the people, not the other way around. Unfortunately we are now in a situation where tough, painful decisions are going to have to be made because of the mess Quinn and company left this state.”
According to the American Conservative Union, their ratings reflect how elected officials view the role of government in an individual’s life, and noted that legislators with the strongest scores, including Senator Syverson, consistently voted with the ideals articulated in the U.S. Constitution.
During his legislative career, Senator Syverson has been the recipient of numerous awards for his dedication to individual rights, protecting important programs that serve the state’s most vulnerable and at-risk families and citizens, as well as his work to create a more positive state environment for growing jobs.
