State Senator Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) will continue his role as Senate Deputy Republican Leader, having recently been reappointed to this key leadership position by Senate Republican Leader Bill Brady.
“As Illinois government undergoes another transition under new governance, I’m honored to continue to serve in this leadership position,” said Senator Syverson. “I am looking forward to working with the new Administration and my fellow lawmakers, both across the aisle and in the House, to tackle some of the key issues that will come up this year.”
“With the start of a new legislative year, I’m honored to serve alongside leaders like Senator Syverson,” said Leader Brady. “He has a proven track record of being able to build consensus on key issues the state is facing, and I know he will continue to be an invaluable asset to our leadership team.”
Senator Syverson, who has served in the Illinois Senate Since 1993, will continue to carry out the responsibilities of his ongoing leadership role when lawmakers return to Springfield on Jan. 29.
“There are a number of issues that I anticipate are going to come up this year, including discussions surrounding the State’s capital needs, gaming legislation and changes to our healthcare system. These are key issues, important to our region and critical to moving our state forward,” said Senator Syverson. “In this role as Deputy Minority Leader, I will continue to work closely with all of our area legislator and provide a strong local voice for issues important to our region.”
