SPRINGFIELD – State Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Cherry Valley) participated in the inaugural ceremonies of the Illinois Senate as the 104th General Assembly convened Jan. 8 in the State Capitol Building.
Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Kay O’Brien administered the oath of office to newly elected Senators. Sen. Syverson has represented the residents of northern Illinois since 1993, and is regarded as the Dean of the Senate.
“Each new General Assembly has its unique challenges and opportunities. Working with area legislators as a single voice in Springfield on behalf of our region, I will continue to reach across the aisle in both the Senate and the House of Representatives to speak our truth and face our challenges head on,” Syverson said. “Together we will do what is needed to bring sound economic practices back to Illinois, and protect our citizens by putting their concerns and their safety first. A good job and safe communities solve so many issues facing families and Illinois.”
The 35th Senate District includes all or part of Boone, DeKalb, Kane, McHenry, and Winnebago counties.
