Last week, State Senator Dave Syverson, in partnership with Meridian, YouthCare, HealthChoice Illinois and City First Church, provided turkeys and fresh groceries to families in preparation for Thanksgiving.
This year’s distribution provided Thanksgiving meals to 750 families. Volunteers from each partnering organization bundled groceries and loaded cars throughout the morning, working through the cold to make sure every family left with what they needed for the holiday.
Senator Syverson wants to thank all the volunteers, staff and community partners who made this event possible. His goal each year is simple: to make sure local families can enjoy a warm and stress-free Thanksgiving meal. Syverson also noted that events like this show what the Rockford community does best by coming together to help one another.
