While at the Boone County Fair, State Senator Dave Syverson’s office conducted an informal survey asking fairgoers a simple question: Do you support keeping the Bears in Illinois?
The results were overwhelming, with a strong majority of those who participated saying they want the Bears to stay right here in Illinois. Senator Syverson agrees with the overwhelming majority, though he joked that the few “no” votes may have come from Packers fans.
The Bears have been part of Illinois for more than a century, and Senator Syverson believes state government should be doing what it reasonably can to keep the team here.
With the future of the Bears still being discussed, Senator Syverson believes the Governor’s Office and the General Assembly need to take the situation seriously and work toward a responsible solution.
He says there are still plenty of details to work through, especially when it comes to protecting taxpayers. However, Senator Syverson believes it is time to get everyone to the table and find a path forward that keeps the Bears in Illinois.
Senator Syverson thanks everyone who stopped by his booth at the Boone County Fair and participated in the survey.
