SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Dave Syverson (R-Cherry Valley) is reminding Illinoisans to take a moment on April 1 to celebrate the 18th anniversary of Cheap Trick Day in Illinois.
Cheap Trick is an American rock band from Rockford formed in 1973 with the current band lineup including frontman Robin Zander, guitarist Rick Nielsen, bassist Tom Petersson, and drummer Daxx Nielsen.
“Illinois is fortunate to claim Cheap Trick as one of its own for more than 50 years. It is a favorite band that we remember from our youth,” Syverson said. “On April 1, 2007, I had the privilege to sponsor legislation creating Cheap Trick Day to be celebrated every April 1 in Illinois.”

Since the creation of Cheap Trick Day in Illinois, the band has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, and has continued touring and album releases.
“With the profound impact Cheap Trick has had on music for 52 years, we are proud of their accomplishments, beyond happy they are still entertaining in venues around the world, and pleased they still call Illinois home,” Syverson said.
